Translation |
So many years had gone by since the beginning of the world, when our Lord Jesus Christ was born from the inviolate and perpetual virgin, the blessed Mary, in the town of Bethlehem of Judaea, on Sunday night, the eighth day before the Kalends of January near the end of the forty-second year of Augustus, 28 years since the subjugation of Egypt and the death of Anthony and Cleopatra, when Herod held the kingdom of the Jews, the first foreigner to do so, in the thirty-first year of his reign.
