790 - In the following year he (=Charlemagne) did not undertake a campaign but again celebrated Christmas and also Easter in the city of Worms. He rested at Worms, received the envoys of the Huns, and on his part sent envoys to their princes. The point at issue between them was where the borders of their kingdoms should be. This festering dispute was the seedbed which nursed the subsequent war against the Huns. |
