Translation trans. Nelson, a. 872, p. 179. On the Eve of Pentecost, the Emperor Louis came to Rome, and was crowned next day by Pope Hadrian. Then after Mass had been celebrated, Louis wearing his crown rode with the pope in solemn procession to the Lateran palace. Afterwards, having mustered his army, he left Rome and again made for the region of Benevento.
