Quotation Tunc Longinus praefectus tulit thesauros Langobardorum, et Albsuinda, filia Albuin regis, iussit ponere in navem et transmisit eam Constantinopolim ad imperatorem.
Translation Then the prefect Longinus took the treasure of the Langobards and commanded Albusinda, the daughter of king Albuin, to be put in a ship, and sent her over to Constantinople to the emperor. (W.D. Foukes, trans., E. Peters, ed., Origo gentis langobardorum (1974), p. 319)
Summary Here the Origo recounts the aftermath of Rosemunda’s killing of Alboin and Helmechis and her own death: that the prefect Longinus sent Alboin’s daughter, Albsuinda and the treasury of the Lombards by ship to Constantinople (modern day Istanbul).
