Translation In August Rechila, the king of the Sueves, died a pagan in Emerita. His son Recharius, an orthodox Christian, soon succeeded him as king, and though he had a number of rivals from among his own family, they did not reveal themselves. However, no sooner had he gained royal power than he invaded the farthest reaches (of Gallaecia) in search of booty. Pascentius, a Manichee from the city of Rome who had fled from Asturica, was arrested in Emerita by bishop Antoninus, who also tried him and had him expelled from the province of Lusitania.
