Text De fide catholica contra Iudaeos (601 - 636) Isidore of Seville
Quotation De quibus et alibi ipse dixit: Et ducam caecos in viam quam nesciunt, et in semitis quas ignoraverunt, ambulare eos faciam, ponam tenebras coram eis in lucem, ut impleretur quod per eundem prophetam fuerat dictum: Gentium populus, qui sedebat in tenebris, vidit lucem magnam, habitantibus in regione umbrae mortis lux orta est eis. Item de gentium vocatione ad Christum sic ait: "Attendite ad me populus meus, et tribus mea me audite, quia lex a me exiet, et judicium meum in luce populorum requiescet, prope est justus meus, egressus est Salvator meus".
Translation Of whom he himself said elsewhere: 'And I will lead the blind into the way which they do not know, and in paths which they were not aware of, I shall make them walk, I will light up the shadows before their eyes, so that that which was said by the same prophet might be fulfilled: the people of nations, who sat in the shadows, see a great light, a light has arisen to them living in the region of the shadow of death.' Again on the calling of the gentiles to Christ he says thus: 'Listen to me my people, and my tribe hear me, for the law goes out from me, and my judgement shall rest in the light of the peoples, my just one is near, my saviour has gone out'.
