Certum est enim, usque ad ortum Christi non defuisse principes populi Judaeorum ex genere Juda,
nec duces de femoribus ejus usque ad Herodem alienigenam regem, qui per ambitionem regni
irrepserat potestatem.
2. Statim enim ut hoc factum est, et defecit dux ex semine Judae, advenit ille qui mittendus erat, quem
gentes et populi exspectabant. |
| Translation |
For it is certain, that until the rise of Christ the princes of the people of the Jews were not from the line of Judah, nor were the leaders from his loins until the alien king Herod, who through his ambition seized power. 2. For immediately as this was done, and there was no ruler from the seed of Judah, he came who was to be send, whom the nations and the peoples awaited. |
