Habet enim ista typum Ecclesiae.
Primum, quod alienigena est ex populo gentili, quae, relicta patria, et omnibus quae illic erant, vadit
in terram Israel.
Et, cum prohiberet eam socrus sua pergere se cum, perseverabat, dicens: Quocunque perrexeris,
pergam; populus tuus, populus meus, et Deus tuus, Deus meus; quae te morientem terra susceperit, in
ea moriar. |
| Translation |
For this prefigures the Church. First, because she is a foreigner from a gentile people, who, having left her homeland behind, and all who were there, went into the land of Israel.
And, when her mother-in-law prohibited her from going with her, she persevered, saying: wherever you reach, I shall pursue you; your people is my people, and your God is my God; the land which will receive you when you die, there shall I die as well. |
