Mysticorum expositiones sacramentorum seu Quaestiones in Vetus Testamentum (624 - 636) Isidore of Seville |
Quotation |
Translation |
That also the Jews, while they, against the will of God, plotted to kill Christ, through that effected the salvation of the gentiles, through that which they thought they were extinguishing. But that David brought forward the foreskins of the foreigners, and thus first gained the daughter of Saul in marriage, this meant that Christ did not receive the Synagogue into union with him, unless he had previously been great among the gentiles. 3. For first he destroyed pollution among the gentiles, and afterwards joined himself to the Synagogue. |
