Quotation |
Translation |
It is an evil unheard of in times past and, as servants of God here versed in the Scriptures say,
three or four times worse than the corruption of Sodom, if a
Christian people should turn against lawful marriage contrary to
the practice of the whole world—nay, to the divine command—and
should give itself over to incest, lust, and adultery, and the seduction of veiled and consecrated women. (Trans. Emerton, p. 133) |
