Summary |
Here Ammianus refers to the Herules as one of the military units requested by the emperor Constantius II for his imminent campaign against the Persians. According to Ammianus, the move was only a pretext for weakening the position of Julian, whose fame was growing and spreading thanks to his recent military successes on the Rhine. |
