ϰατ᾿ αὐτὸν τὸν χϱόνον οἱ Ταϱνιὰχ ϰαὶ οἱ Κοτζαγηϱοὶ (ϰαὶ οὗτοι δὲ ἐϰ τὼν Οὐὰϱ ϰαὶ Χουννὶ) ἀπὸ τῶν Τούϱϰων ἀποδιδϱάσϰουσι ϰαὶ πϱὸς τὴν Εὐϱώπην γενόμενοι τοῖς πεϱὶ τὸν Χαγάνον τῶν Ἀβάϱων συνάπτονται. λέγεται δὲ ϰαὶ τοὺς Ζαβενδὲϱ ἐϰ τοῦ γένους πεφυϰέναι τῶν Οὐὰϱ ϰαὶ Χουννί. ἡ δὲ γεγονυῖα ἐπίϑετος δύναμις τοῖς Ἀβάϱοις εἰς δέϰα χιλιάδας ἠϰϱίβωτο. |

7.8.16-17, p. 191: At that time the Tarniach and Kotzager, who are also from the Var and Chunni (Oúnnoi), fled from the Turks (Toȗrkoi) and, on reaching Europe, united with the followers of the Avar Chagan (Abárōn Khagános). It is said that the Zabender also originated from the race of the Var and Chunni (Oúnnoi). The additional force which accrued to the Avars (Ábaroi) was accurately assessed at ten thousand. |
