Quotation De quorum numero sanctus Dei sacerdos Vedastus et praedicator egregius temporibus fortissimi regis tunc temporis Francorum Hlodwii in has, divina dirigente gratia, ob multorum salutem pervenit regiones, quatenus supernae pietatis suffultus auxilio, populum diabolica fraude deceptum et errorum laqueis captivum in viam dirigeret salutis aeternae et verae quae in Christo est libertati restitueret. (...) Contigit vero, praefatum Francorum regem Hlothwium Alamannis bella inferre, qui tunc temporis regno suo per se potiti sunt; sed non eos ita offendit inparatos, ut voluit. (...) Mox, divina operante pietate, terga verterunt Alamanni; victoria cessit regi et Francis.
Translation Of their number, the holy priest of God Vedastus went through these regions as an outstanding preacher in the times of the most strong king of the Franks of that time, Ludwig, with divine grace guiding his steps, for the salvation of many, and in as much as he relied on the help of heavenly piety, he guided the people who had been deceived by the devil's fraud and caught in the snares of error to the way of eternal salvation and restored them to true liberty which is in Christ. (...) But it happened that the aforementioned King of the Franks, Ludwig, made war upon the Alemans, who at that time had taken his realm for themselves; but he did not fall upon them when they were unprepared, as he had hoped. (...) Soon, through the working of divine piety, the Alemans turned their backs; victory yielded to the king and the Franks. (LG)
