Translation |
If an arimannus [freeman] or someone else does not first go to his iudicem [judge] for a judgment but, in seeking justice, appeals first to us, he shall pay fifty solidi as composition to his judge. Summary |
Ratchis, No. 2 establishes a fifty solidi composition to be paid to the judge of his district, should a freeman or somebody else not go to him first for justice and instead goes straight to the king. The law then states that if a person does not have enough wealth to pay the fifty solidi composition, they are to be beaten instead. |
