Translation |
With regard to thieves, whoever neglects to investigate or seek them out or allows them to go outside the clusas [borders] shall be subjected to such penalty as the edict provides and an investigation shall be made within the present indiction…

Summary |
Aistulf, No. 9 begins by reiterating previous law on the restitution for not seeking out thieves or letting them pass beyond the borders of the country, then goes on to establish composition equal to the wergild of a judge or freeman who has been informed of a thief but does not pursue them. |
