If a Lombard makes an agreement involving any property whatsoever with a bishop, abbot, or other guardian of a church or with the director of a hospital… If the transfer of property involves casis terris [servile holdings] or familiis [household servants], and representatives of the king or of the priest, or judges or three other such men whose faith is accepted were present…

Summary |
Aistulf, No. 16 establishes that if a lombard makes an agreement with a bishop or abbot, or the guardian of a church or hospital, then his heirs cannot later break that agreement unless compostion is paid according to the penalty clause set out in the contract. |
