If a Lombard possesses any property whatever and the guardians of a holy place challenge his possession of that property, if he can authenticate his possession for thirty years and this is manifest, he shall possess that property in the future…

| Summary |
Aistulf, No. 18 establishes that in disputes between Lombards and holy places over the ownership of property, that the property shall not be contested if it has been held for thirty years or more. This is contrasted in the law with, firstly disputes over property held by a Lombard for less than five years, and secondly in disputes between holy places where ownership becomes indisputable after forty years. |
