Ὅτι ἐπὶ Τιβερίου Καίσαρος οἱ τῶν Ῥωμαίων στρατηγοὶ εἰσβολὴν ἐς Ἀλβανίαν ποιησάμενοι καὶ ὁμήρους λαβόντες Σαβείρων καὶ Ἀλανῶν καὶ ἄλλων ἐθνῶν ἧκον ἐς Βυζάντιον. ἀφικομένους δὲ ἐν Βυζαντίῳ τοὺς πρέσβεις τῶν ἐνδεδωκότων ἐαυτοὺς Ἀλανῶν τε καὶ Σαβείρων ὁ Καῖσαρ δέχεται ἐπιεικῶς καὶ πάνυ φιλανθρώπως, πυθόμενός τε παρ’ αύτῶν, ὁπόσα χρήματα αύτοῖς ἐδίδου ὁ Πρεσῶν βασιλεύς (…) |
Translation |
During the reign of Tiberius Caesar the generals of the Romans invaded Albania, took hostages from the Sabirs, Alans and other tribes, and came to Byzantium. When the envoys of the Alans and Sabirs who had surrendered arrived at Byzantium, the Caesar received them in an appropriate and kindly manner and he asked them how much money the Persian king gave to them. |
