Translation |
3.5.6 (p. 72) The Romans, at the instance of Martin, started immediately to make hasty preparations with a view to mounting a full-scale attack against the Persians at Onoguris. Onoguris was the ancient name of the place and may have arisen as the result of an encounter at some time in the past between a branch of the Huns called the Onoguri and the Colchians in which the latter were victorious, the local inhabitants then commemorating the success by naming the spot after it. |
Summary |
An attack on the Persians by the Romans under the magister militum Martin at Onoguris. The name of the place, Onoguris, is explained by an earlier conflict between Onogurs and Colchians, in which the latter prevailed. |
