Quotation Eodem tempore erat quidam princeps Slavorum, nomine Godescalcus, materno genere Danus. Hic apud Luneburg litteralibus studiis inbutus erat, sed postea, abiecta fide christiana, multa mala christianis intulit et quas potuit eccelsias destruxit. Post hec penitentia ductus, omni diligentia christianam fidem in Slavia promovit et propugnator fortissimus extitit.
Translation At the same time there was a certain prince of the Slavs called Gottschalk, Danish on his mother’s side. He was trained in literary studies at Lüneburg, but afterwards he rejected the Christian faith and brought many evils upon the heads of Christians, and destroyed as many churches as he could. After this he did penance and promoted the Christian faith in Slavia with every diligence and proved to be a very strong champion of it. (Trans. Laura Gazzoli)
