Comment | The oldest gloss tradition on Martianus influenced in part the commentaries by John Scottus Eriugena and by Remigius of Auxerre. This tradition was originally attributed to Dunchad and later to Martin of Laon. Recently the idea of a single author has been rejected. The glossing material underwent constant transformation through cross-fertilization, omission, addition, correction. Corbie appears to have been an important distribution centre, together with Auxerre, Fleury, Reims, and Lorsch. The place of origin of the text is uncertain. |
