Quotation Ambrones fuerunt gens quaedam Gallica, qui subita inundatione maris cum amisissent sedes suas rapinis et praedationibus se suosque alere coeperunt. Eos et Cymbros Theotonesque Gaius Marius delevit. Ex quo tractum est ut turpis vitae homines Ambrones dicerentur.
Translation The Ambrones were a Gaulish people. When they lost their homeland due to sudden flooding from the sea, they began to sustain themselves and their families by raiding. Gaius Marius destroyed them and the Cimri and Teutones. From this it arose that men of wicked lifestyle are called Ambrones. (Trans. Laura Gazzoli)
