Title 360 Constantius II requests several units from Julian's army for his imminent campaign against the Persians
Description The event is reported by Ammianus. When Constantius II, worried by the successes of Julian, demanded the dispatch of western auxiliaries – i.e. the Herules, the Batavi, the Celts and the Petulantes – for his imminent Persian campaign, Julian opposed this order arguing that these troopers had abandoned their homes beyond the Rhine and joined the Roman army only on the condition that they would have never be sent beyond the Alps.
