Sicque crucis similitudo super capita eorum denotata Judaeis scandalum, Christianis futuram gloriam praesignavit, senioremque per crucis mysterium sinistrum factum de dextro, et juniorem dextrum de sinistro, quia Judaeis in nostra deserta labentibus, nos illorum gloriam adepti sumus.
4. Talique sacramento majori populo Judaeorum praepositus est minor populus gentium. Unde et idem patriarcha ait: Hic quidem erit in populum, sed hic exaltabitur. |
| Translation |
And thus the likeness of the cross depicted above their heads is a scandal to the Jews, and signifies the future glory of the Christians, and that from the right hand the elder shall be made a left hand through the mystery of the cross, and from the left hand the younger shall be made right, because as the Jews fall into what we have left behind, we have taken up their glory. 4. By this sacrament the lesser people of the nations is placed before the greater people of the Jews. When the same patriarch says: this one shall be unto the people, but this one shall be exalted. |
