Chronica Prophetica (883 - 900) Anonymous - History |
Quotation |
Translation |
The Saracens perversely think themselves to be descended from Sarah. In truth, they are Agarenes from Hagar and Ishmaelites from Ishmael. This is their origin: Abraham bore Ishmael from Hagar… Abd Allah bore Muhammad who is thought by them to be a prophet…Muhammad ibn ar-Rahman bore al-Mundhir, and Abd Allah.

Summary |
Here the Chronica prophetica argues that the Saracens are not descended from Sarah, as they consider themselves to be, but rather are descended from Ishmael and Hagar. The brief introduction is then followed by a list of descendents and successors through the prophet Mohammed and ending with the two sons of Mohammed ibn ar-Rahman: Al-Mundhir and Abd Allah, who were the successive Emirs of Córdoba in the late eight and turn of ninth centuries. |
