Translation |
The Lord King Charles' embarked on a campaign and crossed the Rhine at Cologne. He held an assembly at the source of the River Lippe. All the Saxons came there except the rebel Widukind. Norse
emissaries of King Sigifrid, Halptani with his companions, also appeared at this assembly, and so did Avars sent by the khagan and iugur. When the assembly was over, the Lord King Charles returned
to Francia. |
Summary |
In 782 Charlemagne held an assembly on the other side of the Rhine, at the sources of the River Lippe. There he received emissaries of the Saxons, the Norse and the Avars, sent by the Khagan and the Iugurrus. After the assembly Charlemagne returned to Francia. |
