Quotation
Translation After the victory over the scythians, while the sovereign was celebrating and feasting, Andonnoballus came before everyone and said, “i wish at some point to ask a favor of you.” and since he thought that at some point he was going to request something great, he granted him a request. and Andonnoballus said, “Give me some fine wine, that i may summon all of my household and celebrate with them.” and the sovereign laughed and commanded that wine be given him. And he gave to him many other gifts, too.

Comment In this fragment, Andonnoballus, who had previously strongly defended his liberty against Bibulus accused to be a despot-loving slave, is described as a barbarian chieftain loyal to the Romans, who asks the emperor to send him wine so that he and his followers could celebrate the victory over the Scythians.
