Si quis per murum de castro aut civitate sine noticia iudecis sui exierit foras, aut intraverit, si liber est, sit culpabiles in curtem reges solidos vigenti; si autem haldius aut servus fuerit, sit culpabiles solidi decim in curtem reges. Et si furtum fecerit, sicut in hoc edictum legitur, poena furti conponat. |

If anyone goes out or enters through the wall of a castro [fortification] or city without the consent of the iudecis [judges] shall, if he is a freeman, he shall pay twenty solidi to the king's fisc. If, moreover, he is a “half-free” [aldius] or enslaved man, he shall pay ten solidi to the king's fisc. If he has committed theft therein he shall pay composition in accordance with the penalty for theft as is provided in these laws

| Summary |
Rothari, No. 244 establishes a twenty solidi compositon for a freeman or ten solidi for a half-free (aldius) or enslaved person if they pass through the walls of a city or fortification without permission. If they commited a theft while there, they must also make restitution for whatever they stole. |
