Comment Promulgated in the name of Rothari from the Lombard palace in Ticinum [Pavia] on the 22 November 643 [Event, ID:71]. In the prologue [Stelle, ID:5111] and final laws [Stelle, ID:$] of the Edictus Rothari, the preparation of the law-code is framed as a collaborative effort, gathering traditional Lombard customs, and emending and updating them with the influence of judges and other advisors. It has been speculated, that the written text of the laws may have been compiled at the Abbey of Bobbio, rather than in Pavia itself. The Edictus Rothari forms part of the Edictus Langobardorum [text, ID:984]
