Huius temporibus in era DCCXII anno imperii eius primo Arabum LVII, Mauie regni XXIII, Wamba Gothis prefectus regnat annis VIII. Qui iam in supra fatam eram tertii sceptra regia meditans, ciuitatem Toleti mire et eleganti labore renobat, quem et opere sculptorio uersiucando pertitulans, hoc in portarum epigrammata stilo ferreo in nitida lucidaque marmora patrat. |
| Translation |
In the times of this man in era 712 [674 CE], in the first year of his rule, and the fifty-seventh year of the Arabs, the twenty-third of Mauia's rule, Vuamba ruled as prefect of the Goths for eight years. This man in the aforementioned era holding the royal scepters of his rule renovated the city of Toletum wondrously and through elegant labour. He underlined this work through writing verse in sculptor work and dedicated this epigram on gates in iron pen in bright and lucid marble.
