Gesta Hammaburgensis ecclesiae pontificum (1075 - 1076) Adam of Bremen |
Quotation |
Translation |
Sclavania, which is the largest province of Germany, is inabited by the Wends, who were formerly called the Vandals; it is said to be ten times as large as our Saxony, especially if one also counts Bohemia and the Poles who live beyond the Oder, since they are hardly different in their speech or customs, as part of Sclavania.
