Quotation Si servus in alia civitatem scandalum conmiserit, sit culpabiles in palatium regis solidos tres, si autem plagas aut feritas fecerit, sit culpabiles in palatium regis solidos sex, excepto plagas aut feritas cui fecerit, conponat.
Translation If an enslaved person creates a disturbance in another district he shall pay three solidi to the king’s palace. If he, however, inflicts wounds or injuries he shall pay six solidi to the king’s palace in addition to paying composition for the wounds or injuries to him who suffered them. (Emended from K. Summary Rothari, No. 40 establishes a three solidi composition payable to the royal palace (i.e. royal fisc) for any enslaved man who causes a disturbance in a city/district [civitatas] where the king is not present and where they do not strike a blow, but a composition of six solidi if they do strike a blow. In addition, they must also pay composition for any wounds inflicted.
