Quotation Eraclius per omnes sui imperii prounicias uel insulas destinauit ut, quantequmque Romane legiones presidiis patriarum diuersis locis inerant, Damascum metropolim Syrie, pro expugnandis hostibus aduenirent.
Translation Eraclius gave instructions through all the provinces and even islands of his empire, so that whatever Roman legions were placed as garrisons in diverse places of the land, should arrive at the Syrian city of Damascus to overcome the enemy.
